Shum Shui Po - Oi Man Sheng (深水埗 - 愛文生)

Eating has already become one of my hobbies. It's always a joy to gather and have a big fat dinner. Last weekend, a few of us went to Shum Shui Po's Oi Man Sheng to tried out this Dai Pai Dong. Shum Shui Po is definitely a place I do not visit often, but I am glad we get to explore together. Since I am not too familiar with Shum Shui Po, we got lost and it took us 10-15 minutes to find the restaurant. It was pretty packed when we arrived, but luckily someone just left and we got ourselves a corner table.

First reaction when I saw the table - WHY IS IT SO DAM WET? Don't they clean tables? Well, but I should expect this at the first place since it's DAI PAI DONG.
Next, a waiter came over and "threw" this red plastic sheet and said "HELP YOURSELF"
Now I understand why the table is wet so it will be sticky and the table cloth won't move around. Pretty smart.

POW WOW - Hong Kong

One of my recent projects with my friends. I feel blessed cos a lot of people think its great success, but I have to say there's always space for improvement. It's rare to have music and art happening at the same time. I am glad we can glue pieces together. It was definitely a great great great experience. Sometimes it's not about the result, it's about the process/procedure.

Pretty Hong Kong

Some people love Hong Kong while some hate. It's actually a very thin line between love and hate. Hong Kong is a super interesting city. It gives people a very new and old feeling. From the most trendy-driven areas, to the super ghetto/vintage areas. Hong Kong is pretty diversed. Anyways, pictures speak louder than words. You tell me whether you love or hate Hong Kong

Are you looking for fabrics?

Because of a recent freelance job, I had to go to Shum Shui Po (深水埗) to look for fabrics for my designer to create her upcoming collection. Shum Shui Po isn't somewhere I will go often because first it's FAR and also, there is nothing to do there. Spent 2 hours walking from store to store to check out fabric. Then I realize it's tough to be a designer. Imagine there are so much going on behind a simple T-shirt. From sourcing the fabric, to choosing the the right material, from designing the right print to the printing method.. bla bla bla.. etc etc etc. When I was checking the fabrics today, I almost FAINTED because there were way too many options. Even though a lot of them look/feel similar, but they are totally different. After today's trip to Shum Shui Po, I gotta say I am going to pay more attention to every piece of my clothing. Gotta respect the designer!

WOW time flies. it's february already. february is a super duper busy month for me and for the Chinese people because we have to celebrate our New Year. Beside the Chinese New Year, I have so many things going on within this month. It's busy and schedule is PACKED. Anyways, went to this super popular hot pot place in Jordan today celebrate one of my best friend Adrian's birthday. I just realize back in the days, we used to do/plan so much for one's birthday, but now we seem to do less. Not because we don't have the time to do anything, but I guess we just want to keep things simple. Sometimes you don't need to do something (physical) to prove that you are treating someone nicely. it's all about the heart you got.

it is extremely heard to get together in hong kong. even though hong kong is sooo small , but people are busy all day and night. its just hard to sit down, meet up and talk. always cherish the time i spend with my friends.

i've known mr. b for quite some time. i didnt count, but i am sure i've celebrated a lot of birthdays with him. but each year is getting simpler and simpler which i think its good. as you grow old, less is always more. the less you do, the better it is. not sure if my friend here likes this simple dinner and gathering, but i wish him a great 2010. please stay wise and postive. always heart you.

2010's First China Trip

CHINA was never my thing, but due to work, its inevitable that I have to go. I spent my first two days at Dong Guan (東莞) and after that I took a 1+ hour bus ride to Shun De (順德). Thank god my best girl Cindy went with me or else I will probably freak out during my whole trip. You might think I am actually exggerate the ghetto/crazy/unbelieveable/unreal scene of China, but you gotta trust me on this one.

You know you are in China when you see simplified Chinese characters on top of every English word you see. And when there is a Chinese translation for all overseas imported goods.

This is something you have to do for every meal. Use hot water to wash your utensils. Even though it doesn't really do much, but it makes people feel better (at least psychological)

BUT, one thing that will make me wanting to go back to China is probably THE FOOD. With not a lot of mulla, you can probably have a very decent meal. I spent two days there. Each day I spent around $100RMB (approximately $114HKD) for food, which is not a lot of money, but I can eat a lot of food already because meals vary from $5-8rmb to hundreds dollars.

On a last note, China is super extreme. People are either super rich or real real poor. People ask me why but I can never explain. Somehow it just doesn't make any sense to me.
